Il avait annonce dans un de ses memoires que les bijoux chanteraient infailliblement; ils venaient de chanter, et ce phenomene, qui deroutait ses confreres, etait un nouveau trait de lumiere pour lui et achevait de confirmer son systeme. Sophie de Menthon cette epoque, entra dans la maison, comme gouvernante des enfants, une demoiselle Deluzy, habile, dominatrice, intrigante, qui ne fut pas longue a s'emparer completement du coeur et de l'esprit du duc et de ses enfants.
